There are banks that do not use ChexSystems. Almost all of the local, regional and national banks use this system, but there are a few that don't. Later on, within the text of the e-book, we're going to show you how to get back in the bank's good graces, and then be able to get an account at the bank of your choice. But for now, you still need a bank account, so here's what you have to do.
There are a handful of "second chance" banks, which do not check your file against ChexSystems. Most of these are not going to be local. Almost all of the normal banks which are in your neighborhood and are convenient to your physical location are, for the time being, going to be out of reach for you. But a "second chance" bank is the next best thing. Using these banks, you can direct deposit your paychecks, so you no longer have to pay the huge fees charged by the check cashing stores. You can have a debit card which you can use anywhere just like cash, and you can have online bill paying, so you can pay all your bills, and you can have online access to your account information. Most of these banks do not offer paper checks, but with the online bill pay and debit card, you won't need them. Make no mistake though, these are regular checking accounts, and they will serve your purpose quite well for the time being. This is the first step towards getting back into the banking mainstream.
How much money are you spending on fees to the check cashing store? It's not unusual to be assessed a two percent fee, so depending on the size of your paycheck, you may be spending fifty bucks a month or more on check cashing fees alone. Not to mention money spent on having to buy money orders. Getting one of these accounts will save you quite a lot of money, and these days, that's important.
