What is ChexSystems?

If you thought that blacklists went out with Eugene McCarthy, you are sorely mistaken.  They’re very much the reality today.  What is ChexSystems trying to do?

 

It’s Hard Enough Already

The world is a brutal place.  People with money are going to do everything that they can to hold onto that money.  It doesn’t matter how unethical they’ve been in “earning” it in the first place, just as long as their nests are feathered.  What is ChexSystems doing to help ameliorate this?  Absolutely nothing.

Banks have been right up there with the mafia lately, as far as their ethics are concerned.  They’ve found every single excuse to screw the common folks over again and again.  Nobody’s talking about it, because everyone’s afraid their finances will end up “with the fishes” if they do.  Nope, the only people you hear talking about banking abuses these days are usually sporting Guy Fawkes masks, and have probably been marinating in their own body odor for a few months by now.   

 

One of the Worst

ChexSystems is a particularly abusive and unethical utility being utilized by the reactionary tools running banks these days.  What is Chexsystems?  You ought to feel fortunate that you’ve never come across it.  Just like how you have rating systems for people’s credit, ChexSystems is a rating system for people’s banking history.  The reasons for loathing ChexSystems number in the millions; that’s how many people’s lives they’ve destroyed.  There is no way to build your rating back up once you’ve been put on the blacklist.  After that, any bank that uses ChexSystems is going to see a mark next to your name when you apply for an account with them, which means that you probably won’t get an account.

 

Just Wonderful

Just try calling ChexSystems customer service line.  It would be laughable if it weren’t your life that’s on the line.  Nope, just one little problem, even after 30 years of no problems at all, and you may have trouble opening up accounts at any other bank that uses ChexSystems service.  This really messes people’s lives up, and by extension the economy in general.  Lots of folks are forced to seek banking alternatives.  As a result, fly-by-night check cashing services with jacked up rates and other shady dealers are making loads of cash and putting people even further under. So what is ChexSystems thinking?  Are they deliberately attempting to destroy our society?

Let’s leave those questions to the college professors, and just thank heavens that there are still quite a few banks out there which do not employ ChexSystems software.  For whatever reason, they have decided that they do not want this much-loathed software.  A few clicks here and there on the internet, and it is relatively easy to find out who those banks are and where they are located. 

Things need not be Awful

It’s easier than you think to keep yourself from being just another ChexSystems number.  That mark is going to be right by your name for a long time, but you don’t have to let it become some horrible stigma that ruins your life.  Yes, you’re going to need to seek alternatives, but isn’t it worth the trouble, knowing that you’re no longer participating in a corrupt and evil system?  We think that it is.
